Exploring the Sound Museum on the new „Sound:Carpet"
Haus der Musik is restyling the Sound:Carpet, an installation first created by Hermann Nitsch in 2008. Austrian artist Gilbert Bretterbauer fashioned a new design for the monumental carpet, which decorates Haus der Musik's third floor.
It's Frédéric Chopin's 200th anniversary, and Haus der Musik is honouring the great Polish composer with an array of events. Following a special exhibition and our Chopin summer concert series, Haus der Musik is now presenting "ROUND ABOUT CHOPIN," an international Chopin-festival, featuring musicians from 15 different countries.

Sound:Carpet

Gilbert Bretterbauer redesigns monumental carpet.

Austrian artist and designer Gilbert Bretterbauer refashioned the museum's monumental "Sound:Carpet" which covers 700m2 of exhibition space. Like much of Gilbert Bretterbauer's work, the carpet is located at the interface of art and design. It operates as a functional floor object, while proposing an expanded understanding of art.
