As an important cultural institution, we see it as our responsibility not only to preserve and impart knowledge and art, but also to make our contribution to protecting the environment for ourselves and future generations. At the latest since extreme heat and drought periods or heavy rainfall events are no longer an exception even in our latitudes and experts are increasingly pointing out the consequences and challenges in this regard, the urgent need for action has become visible and tangible even for laypeople.
By being certified with the Austrian Ecolabel, we are sending a clear signal that we are taking on ecological responsibility and are actively working on scrutinizing our processes and consequently optimizing our workflows and making the use of our resources as environmentally friendly as possible. Being awarded the Ecolabel confirms our efforts and motivates us to continue investing in a sustainable future and to continuously improve.
We carry the eco-label because, as a house of music, we recognize our responsibility to protect the environment and want to make our contribution to reducing environmental pollution and promoting sustainability.
We have already implemented this for the environment / for the eco-label:
- When purchasing new goods, increasing attention is being paid to durability, reusability and recyclability. Where possible, regional products are used or local companies are commissioned.
- As digitalization progresses, administrative work is becoming increasingly paperless, saving valuable resources. The newsletter is sent to our interested parties exclusively in digital form. Printed materials such as flyers and brochures are produced on recycled paper as far as possible.
- Wherever possible, we use natural products for cleaning.
- In order to motivate our guests to travel in a climate-friendly way, our homepage only lists travel options by public transport.
Promoting environmental awareness and sustainability:
As Haus der Musik, we are actively committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices, thereby demonstrating that we take our responsibility towards the environment and future generations seriously. By being certified with the Austrian Ecolabel, we show that cultural institutions also have a social responsibility and actively fulfill it. This can motivate other institutions to take similar steps and thus have a greater positive impact on the environment.
However, certification with the Austrian Ecolabel also means a review of the relevant processes, optimization of operating procedures, improvement of energy efficiency, reduction of waste and an overall more sustainable operation. In the long term, these measures not only bring ecological benefits, but can also enable economic savings.
The eco-label also serves as a mark of quality and can therefore also strengthen the trust and loyalty of visitors. In addition, Haus der Musik positions itself as an attractive partner for cooperation with companies and organizations that also promote sustainability in their business practices.
Integrating sustainability and environmental protection into one's own institution also ensures its future viability. Early certification helps to ensure that the Haus der Musik not only meets these requirements, but exceeds them and thus takes on a leading role in the field of cultural sustainability in the long term.
