New cabinet exhibition - Virtuoso strings

The world of master violinists

Virtuoso strings

Virtuosos, composers and teachers from the pioneers of the Baroque era to the famous violinists of the mid-20th century form the core of this exhibition. The combination of original sheet music, lithographs, photos and letters in the exhibition provides a unique insight into the violinist personalities who continue to enchant us.

One of the important aspects of this exhibition is that fire is actively carried from tradition into the present.

Inspiration from the past brings enthusiasm for today

For the first time, one of the largest private collections of its kind is being made visible! The exhibition is visually divided into three main areas in order to show the variety of aspects and the special significance of the violin in the history of music.

Violin in the course of time

We present violinist-composers from the Baroque period beginning with Geminiani and Corelli; followed by the Viennese Classical period with W.A. Mozart up to the great virtuosos of the 20th century. We would also like to emphasize the quality and value of printed music from the past.

Everything is somehow connected - pedagogical influences and networks

Over a period of 200 years, connections between composers, teachers and their pupils are shown - and the development of violin schools from Leopold Mozart onwards is also highlighted.
