Latin American folk music for people aged 4 and up
A concert with Marko Simsa and the Chilean folklore group PACHA MANKA for people aged 4 and up.
Marko Simsa tells stories about life in South America. We learn that people there wear ponchos and are introduced to musical instruments that some may have never seen or heard before. Pan flutes, with their bamboo tubes, come in a wide variety of sizes. The large drum, also called a "bombo," is covered with goatskin. The rattle made from goat toenails is also fascinating, and the charango is a plucked instrument with ten strings (five double strings) and a curved soundbox, which was once made from an armadillo shell and is now made of wood.
And of course, there's also a dance, because you can't sit still for long when Latin American rhythms are playing!
