He is a Canadian songwriter who records his experimental indie-pop albums in the rugged swamplands of his adopted home state of New Brunswick. Since the release of his critically acclaimed 2024 album Hex, which was nominated for the Polaris Music Prize, McKiel has been considered one of his country's most innovative musicians.
Even its predecessor, Bobby Joe Hope (2020), achieved cult status – not only within the domestic indie and DIY scene. The platform Aquarium Drunkard described the album as an "unlikely masterpiece" and praised it as a fascinating interplay of lo-fi psychedelic rock, shimmering echo soundscapes, and bedroom soul.

Nature Swim is an indie band from Vienna who debuted in 2021 with the dreamy single "Slow Corners". Driven by the voices of Maggie and Gabriel, the duo blends dream pop, bossa nova, and jazz into a hypnotic, intimate sound. After starting out as street musicians, they have performed on stages throughout Europe and shared the stage with artists such as José González.
After a creative break marked by travel and new influences, they returned with their atmospheric single "Tree Song". The band is currently working on their debut album, which is scheduled for release in spring 2026.
