An indie-folk project from Montreal, led by singer, songwriter, and producer Jon Matte. What once began as a collective of friends and musicians has evolved into a project that captivates fans worldwide with its intimate and soulful sound.
Jon's profound lyrics explore themes such as self-discovery, relationships, and the complexities of human existence. The band was nominated for the Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year in 2019 and received an ADISQ nomination for Anglophone Performance of the Year in 2024 – a testament to their growing importance in the music scene.
Following the release of Oh Brother in 2023, a very personal album reflecting Jon's relationship with his brother and raising awareness of mental health, The Franklin Electric released Victory Songs (Vol. 1) This EP explores themes such as choices and the real-world consequences of winning and losing.
In May 2025, the full album Victory Songs be released, further developing the band's unique, narrative sound. With each new release, The Franklin Electric invites its audience on a moving, musical journey that resonates long after the last note fades.
