After the successful first licensing project in Puebla, Mexico (from 2015 to 2022), the Haus der Musik Vienna, a Museum of Vienna Holding, has now started working with China's largest concert organizer WU Promotion. In the Chinese city of Yanguan, a house of music will open in 2024 based on the Vienna original.
WU promotion is known as the largest promoter and organizer of classical music in Asia and has committed itself to cultural exchange. For over 30 years, WU Promotion has been working very successfully with the most important orchestras, opera houses, ballet companies and theaters in the world. WU promotion around the globe is committed to a variety of projects that beat a bridge between different cultures.
The licensing contract between WU Promotion and the House of Music enables the opening of museums based on Wiener model in China and in other Asian countries. The pilot project is already on rail and is about to implement: The first house of music will open in the historic city of Yanguan (Haining City), 150 km southwest of Shanghai, in autumn 2024. The implementation takes place on site by WU doctorate and a local investor as a future operator.
Music experience at 5,000 square meters
The House of Music as a licensor provides the entire content of the interactive music experience museum, which is to be presented in the first house of music in China on a total area of approximately 5,000 square meters. In collaboration with the Vienna architecture firm Chalabi Architects & Partner, work is being carried out to present the special features from the Haus der Musik in a suggestive and atmospheric ambience. In addition to the special experience in dealing with the interactive features and the impressive exhibits, the aim is to capture and experience the atmosphere and the versatility of the music city of Vienna.
“A success story of 23 years with over 5 million visitors speaks for themselves: The interactive exhibition areas and unique installations in the Haus der Musik enable new, innovative approaches to music. The combination of high-tech and hands-on elements offers a musical experience that has never been there-in a didactically modern show, ”says Mayor Michael Ludwig.
“The House of Music is devoted to a wide variety of clashes with music and above all the experience of music. The House of Music is also available for live concerts and events of all kinds. This not only appreciates the Viennese: inside, but also brings many tourists: inside the city center of Vienna, ”said Finance and City Councilor Peter Hanke.
Vienna brand as the capital of music strengthen

The House of Music has developed the entire design concept with the Chalabi architecture firm from Vienna for the project in Yanguan. Based on the design concept of the Vienna House, classic elements were associated with state of the art installations.
